Animal Assisted Intervention Dogs and Health Care Professional:  Team Criteria

Dog Training: All dogs complete an intensive training regime over a (2) two year period, that includes learning all the skills and tasks that might be called on for their work within various Animal Assisted Intervention Programs.
Veterinarian Health Clearance: Regular health check, vaccinations and any other requirements recommended by the veterinarian. 

Keeping dogs in good health helps protect clients and patients from any transferable dog related infections or diseases and helps to prevent dogs contracting sickness and illness transferable from human to dog.

Vaccinated: Up to date with yearly required vaccinations (C5)
Temperament Tested: Dogs are temperament tested by an independent veterinarian specialist and animal assisted interventions evaluator
Working Conditions: Dogs work individually or as a pack, providing service delivery 6 days a week.
Insurance: covered by a $20M Comprehensive Insurance, General Liability $20M, Insurance.
Professional: qualified therapists, animal assisted interventions professional and dog trainer whom trains animals specifically for this level of professional work in healthcare and social service settings.
Training: Required to complete Compulsory and Professional Development training courses.
Police Clearance: hold current national police clearance certificate and all DCSI clearances. 

Community Dogs and Handler Criteria

Dog Training: Basic training
Veterinarian Health Clearance: Temperament tested, health check, vaccinations and any other requirements recommended by the veterinarian.
Vaccinated: Up to date with yearly required vaccinations (C5)
Temperament Tested: Dogs are temperament tested by an animal assisted interventions evaluator
Working conditions: Weekly or fortnightly visitations are conducted for up to 1 1/2 hours per session. 
Insurance: covered by a $20M Comprehensive Insurance, General Liability $20M, and Volunteers Insurance.
Training: Volunteers are required to complete Compulsory and Professional Development training courses.
Police Clearance: each and every volunteer/staff member hold a current police clearance certificate
